Heirlooms of Sidearms & Keepsakes

The older we get, the more valuable family heirlooms and keepsakes we’ve accumulated over the years become. To most folks these things mean very little. However, many of these items are priceless to the current caretaker. A glance around the house reveals an assortment of things that once belonged to relatives that are now gone. It will come as little surprise to y’all that many of these cherished possessions are guns.

Firearms enthusiasts understand how much a gun can mean to a person. A gun passed down from one individual to another is often a prized possession for a variety of reasons. They may hold some monetary value or simply sentimental attachments that are priceless. They are a connection to the past and a reminder of those who now only live in memories and photographs. The best ones show signs of heavy use and honest wear. Worn finishes and dings in the stocks tell stories of hunting adventures and high round counts, meaning the previous owner trusted the gun and used it. I’m fortunate to have a few like this in my collection.
