Each of the majors are making a couple classics. Colt SAA and Python, Smith & Wesson Model 29 and 642, and Ruger Blackhawk and GP100.

If it’s mine, it’s gonna get used and taken care of. I appreciate beautiful, historic, rare, etc., but I’ll let someone else buy and show them.

I've stayed with a 2" J Frame Smith in a pocket holster for years. I spend most of my time in a low crime area, so I never feel undergunned. I DO like to have a rifle in the pickup, usually a lever action carbine.

Well as long as we don't drill and tap our old Colt single actions... Please!

Some years ago when Ruger came out with the "Hunter" version of the Super Blackhawk and the SBH Bisley - the one with the solid rib cut for taking Ruger rings, I knew I wanted one for a hunting revolver with either a scope or a red dot. Turns out the Ultra Dot is perfectly sized to fit those Ruger rings - and it makes a fine hunting revolver. Picked this one up from Tyler's in Texas, it's from Bob Baer's collection.

I am an annual member, but I am curious as to why the distinction between annual versus monthly membership. Is there a benefit to the site from having more annual versus monthly members?

I see a lot of folks practicing only what they’re best at using the pistol that’s easiest for them to shoot. Meanwhile the micro or sub-compact they use for EDC waits on the bench, lucky to get more than a mag or two run through it.

That kind of reads like it was written by a divorce lawyer. Are revolvers possessions? Yep. Are they tools? Yep. Are plastic guns possessions? Yep. Are they tools? Yep. Personal possessions are based on the opinion of the owner. Tools are based on the job that they do. It comes down to prejudice. When you think of a plastic gun you probably think of a gun carried for defensive reasons. You may think of it as a duty weapon. You probably don’t think of it as a highly accurate shooter or a hunting gun. When you think of a wheel gun what do you think of? Maybe a defensive weapon or a duty weapon. You possibly think of them as hunting tools. You may think of a nice custom Blackhawk with a Ronnie Wells grip frame and sights by Fermin. Do you ever think about custom plastic? If not, why? When you think of what some call a custom Glock you probably think of a tactical flashlight or laser or both. All manner of grip stippling.

Custom revolvers usually have the throats corrected and possibly Taylor throating. Free spin pawl? Great trigger? Fancy walnut? Yep I think of that stuff too. Now if I told you I was going to let you shoot a custom Glock what would you think? Possession or tool or maybe both. What if I told you I was going hunting with a Glock? What if the Glock had the barrel fit to the slide  and the slide fit to the frame? The trigger breaks crisply. The gun is equipped with Dawson target sights. Maybe the gun is scoped. You scope revolvers so why not a Glock? 10mm is not enough? No problem pull out a .45 Super or .460 Rowland.

The stage is set. I am sitting in a tree stand and a 270 lbs. Buck comes strolling by at 44 yards. With a Glock? I pull up and level the sights and squeeze the trigger. The buck drops.

Is the gun a possession or tool? It is all in our perception.
