A Special Thank You From Sheriff Jim Wilson
Just over a year ago, Shane Jahn and I began discussing the possibility of creating an internet magazine. Our thought was that gun folks read magazines to be entertained as well as informed. And it just seemed like too many of the current print magazines had become vehicles for product reviews and not much else. We remembered the days when we looked forward to the latest article from John Wootters, Bill Jordan, Elmer Keith, Skeeter Skelton, and a few others. We decided to give it a try with Gun Tales.
The one problem was that Shane and I share an ignorance about most things having to do with the internet and computers. Fortunately, Shane was able to recruit Matt Covert, a former co-worker of his, who understands all that digital doo-doo. We decided to give it a try and I am so glad that we did.
As I had hoped, there are a lot of folks out there who want to be informed and entertained. I appreciate each one of you who has been willing to take a chance on this new venue. Gun Tales is growing and growing rapidly. My pledge to you is that we will continue to work hard to bring you stories, tales, and interesting stuff that you enjoy and find worth reading. Thank you for being a part of the Gun Tales family.
Sincerely,
Sheriff Jim Wilson

⭐ Built for readers, not algorithms. You won’t find clickbait here. Every story was written to be read slowly—not swiped past.
⭐ It’s free—and it’s real. No paywall, no catch. Just a full-length digital magazine made the old way: with care, pride, and a cup of coffee close by.
⭐ You’ll get it instantly. Enter your email below, and your copy of Gun Tales: Best of 2025 will be waiting in your inbox within minutes.
We could’ve just sent you a bundle of links—but that’s not how the old magazines did it.
Back when stories came printed on thin paper and smelled faintly of ink, every issue had weight. It wasn’t just words; it was rhythm, pacing, and pride. Each page told you to slow down, sip your coffee, and give a writer your full attention.
That’s the spirit we want to capture again.
⭐ Gun Tales: Best of 2025 isn’t a scrolling web feed—it’s a proper magazine, laid out page by page, built to read like the classics: bold titles, photos taken with purpose, and honest writing set in clean columns. It’s meant to be something you can flip through on a quiet morning, or look forward to during a long workweek.
Every story earned its place the old-fashioned way: through craft, truth, and a little gunpowder under the fingernails.
☕ Thank you for helping us keep the campfire burning. Here’s to another year of thoughtful words, warm coffee, and the nostalgia of days well lived.
Pull up a chair and grab your copy below—the campfire's warm, and the stories are waiting. Enjoy!
