Firearm Provenance
by Jim Wilson
If you wander along in the Southwest, from El Paso all the way to Yuma, Arizona, you are liable to come across one of Pancho Villa’s guns for sale—all Colt Bisleys, of course. You’ll likely find one in El Paso, maybe another in Albuquerque, and certainly several in the Tucson/Phoenix area. And you’ll find several at every gun show worthy of its name throughout the area. All I can tell you is that Ol’ Pancho must have owned and carried about one third of the Bisley Colts that were ever made.
And then there was Billy the Kid who carried a Colt Lightning, or was it a Thunderer? And it might have been a Colt Frontier Six Shooter...whichever, it was definitely the one that he had in his hand when Garrett snuffed him out. All of these are authentic guns and can be yours for a reasonable price. And, if you believe all of that, I have Adolph Hitler’s personal Glock 17, also available for a very reasonable price. The only thing any of these historic guns lack is good provenance.
